I don't really want to derail the conversation, but could you explain to me how the Gaza Genocide is "irrefutable"? The numbers just don't add up for me.

The "numbers don't up for you?"

I... think I explained my reasoning in the note? Was there something you didn't think was clear?

You replied, "I don't really want to derail the conversation, but could you explain to me how the Gaza Genocide is "irrefutable"? The numbers just don't add up for me." You then patronize me "was there something you didn't think was clear?"), and have the gall to post a link to a bad argument you've been making on Substack.

The linked comment above, in which you imply that the death tool is "too low" for the US/Israeli Genocide to be, you know, a Genocide, is a false argument, based upon your ignorance. The amount of those murdered so far is at least 55,000, by all reputable figures, but I and others think the toll is much higher--at least 100,000 a this point.

But it doesn't matter how "low" the murder toll is up to this point, becuse what makes this a genocide is not just the amount of people exterminated. There are many indicators of Genocidal intent and practice, and Israel ticks every box, so to speak, from bombing hospitals (repeatedly) to the torture and rape and murder of doctors and other prisoners to the destruction of every school and University in Gaza. They have bull-dozed cemeteries and looted and destroyed cultural sites. Right now, they're using starvation (which has been on-going) as weapon of "war," and they're bragging about it, and not at all trying to hide it. You either don't know that, or do, and are simply making excuses for Israel's genocide. At the very most, if I wanted to be generous, I'd say you're appallingly ignorant, but I ain't in the mood anymore to let people off the hook for their ignorance on this matter. But I read a couple of your posts, and your ignorance is willful.

other things you posted, and this seems to be the case.

I didn't see the point to copy-pasting an identical argument to what I've made before rather than asking people to read an existing post? What is your outrage here?

> "The amount of those murdered so far is at least 55,000, by all reputable figures, but I and others think the toll is much higher--at least 100,000 a this point"

50-65K is estimated for the war in total (as I already noted), but most of those casualties were concentrated in the initial months. The last 12 months or so have, as I said, about 15,000 recorded deaths, which I'm using to project into the future (i.e, try to discern Israeli intentions.)

This is also based on Hamas health ministry figures, who if anything are incentivised to exaggerate death tolls.

> " There are many indicators of Genocidal intent and practice, and Israel ticks every box, so to speak, from bombing hospitals (repeatedly) to the torture and rape and murder of doctors and other prisoners..."

Even if this was true- and I'd like to see your source on the 'torture and rape' part being some kind of systemic practice- then that would be a war crime, but not a genocide. Genocide is not "high civilian casualties", or even "nonzero frequency of war crimes".

> "Right now, they're using starvation (which has been on-going) as weapon of "war," and they're bragging about it, and not at all trying to hide it"

Yes, I'm aware that according to international observers the Palestinians have been on the verge of a "humanitarian crisis" more-or-less continuously for eighteen months, and yet a million emaciated corpses keep failing to materialise.

Again, can you explain to me why the Israelis didn't just switch off the water supply on day one and wait a few weeks, if you really think they can commit mass murder with impunity? Do they just enjoy playing hide-and-seek with C4 charges and mujahadeen, or something?

Too bad about there being no edit function here: even being careful and double-checking, the errant line, "other things you posted, and this seems to be the case." still got through.

There's certainly an edit function for me, not sure what your malfunction is.
