Longform journalism is still alive and healthy—if you know where to look. Here are some favorites from the last 12 months.
Wow, thanks for unearthing all these gems (once again)! So happy to have subscribed to The Honest Broker! merry xmas even.....!
Wow, what a completely unexpected honor. Thank you! I cannot wait to read the rest of these.
This list will keep me busy through the holidays.
People don't read enough books ... and people don't read enough longform essays either. As an example, if you want to know what is happening in the world, especially in terms of politics, it really helps to read a few of the articles in each issue of THE ECONOMIST, FOREIGN AFFAIRS, FOREIGN POLICY and THE NATIONAL INTEREST. But anyway, Ted, this is a great list. I can recommend the following website (The Electric Typewriter) that contains a lot of classic longform articles: https://tetw.org
This is a great collection, which I'm looking forward to diving into. Thanks for compiling it.
The Sondheim is marvelous.
Adam Serwer wrote this banger in The Atlantic recently. One of the best essayists out there.
