Ted, sir, you are not just a Jazz Writer. You are an astute observer of human nature as it thrashes about in the past or present world. You are an anthropologist, ethnologist and have an amazingly accurate feel for what might occur in the future. That is why your readers queue up. Thank you for your efforts.
Well, if "writing about music is like dancing about architecture", then Ted, you are certainly a very gifted dancer. I have really enjoyed your articles since subscribing, and I have to thank Rick Beato for introducing me (and many others, I suspect) to this wonderful forum. Happy 2nd birthday!
Dear "unusually gifted demographic" - I LOVE this so much! So happy to be with everyone who thinks we should have intelligent and fact based conversation among ourselves and to include the best among us and our friends. Be well.
I love the wide variety of topics because you always bring an interesting, insightful, and--quite often--surprising perspective to whatever you cover. It's so cool to have read your History of Jazz book almost twenty years ago and now be able to see new writing from you on such a frequent basis. And I really appreciate the respect and appreciation you show for your audience. Kudos!
The Barnes and Noble turnaround was a fascinating read. No wonder it is top rated. As I read your posts Ted, some really stick with me. Barnes and Noble was one of those posts. Another was your holiday post about Lester Young. In fact I just received “In Washington DC, volume 2” in yesterday’s mail (I’m slowing acquiring all five volumes). It’s a great set. So is the Honest Broker- keep it up!
🎼🎶🎂🍰🥂🕯🕯🎁🎉 And many more, Ted! My husband is a subscriber and a critical thinker, so he gifted me with a subscription, perhaps he hopes exposure to your Critical Thinking will encourage, enforce my nascent capabilities. So yes, I have enjoyed reading what you have to say about the state of life on this planet..is there hope? Seems Like…
Happy Birthday and congratulations on the growth of The Honest Broker. It does my Texas-loving heart good to see a fellow Texan succeed as you are. So, shoot the lights out, Ted.

I agree with your opinion. Ted, you did great!
yes, exactly this!
As keen a grasp on what’s going on in the world as I’ve ever seen. You can’t get this insight anywhere else!
Ted, you remain an inspiration. And a lot of fun to read!
Happy birthday! One of my favorite parts of this platform is how every traditional rule about publishing has been tossed out the window.

Mazel Tov, Ted, on an enlightening two years!
Congrats, Ted! Finding you and your articles tops any recent lists in my life lately!

As someone getting into vinyl, I loved your piece on how record label's greed has stunted the potential of a widespread vinyl renaissance.
